Asiana Airlines and Turkish Airlines Aircraft Collide at Istanbul Airport

Footage has emerged showing the moment the two planes collided on Sunday.

Tourist Kaarina Barron, 55, from Woodley, Berkshire, and friend Clare Chambers were seated near the back of the plane after a holiday in northern Cyprus.

"Turkish Airlines confirms that the Airbus A330 type aircraft of the South Korean airline, Asiana Airlines, hit the tail of Turkish Airlines' Airbus A321 while it was taxiing on Istanbul Atatürk International Airport in yesterday". Its wing accidentally hit the tail of Turkish plane which was parked.

The passengers of both aircraft were not injured.

The Asiana A330 was taxiing bound for a departure to Seoul's Incheon Airport, when the collision with the Turkish aircraft occurred.

It's believed the passengers have been later placed on a unique airplane to finish their journey.

An investigation will now be launched into the precise circumstances of the crash.

Asiana Airlines' OZ552 departing from Istanbul, Turkey crashed into the tail of Turkish Airlines' A321 plane Sunday, breaking its wing as well as the other plane's tail and causing a fire.

The incident is now being investigated by Turkish and South Korean authorities to determine its cause.
