Cong to stake claim to form govt in Goa

"We also request the Bihar Governor to dissolve the state government and like in Karnataka, invite the single largest party, which in Bihar is the RJD", the tweet read. "We have asked the governor to dissolve the state government and like in Karnataka, invite RJD, the single largest party in Bihar, to form the government", Yadav said adding he would be meeting with the Governor at Raj Bhawan at 1:00 pm on Friday.

"On the basis of the rule followed in Karnataka, Congress, being the single-largest party, should be re-invited to form government in Goa, Meghalaya and Manipur", said Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala.

"The president had said "when no party or pre-election alliance of parties is in a clear majority, the Head of State has in India or elsewhere, given the first opportunity to the leader of the party or combination of parties that has won largest number of seats subject to the prime minister so appointed obtaining majority support on the floor of the House within a stipulated time".

"We will request the Bihar Governor to dismiss the state government and invite the RJD to form the government", he said.

"A delegation of the party led by Congress legislative party (CLP) and Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) will meet Goa Governor on Friday and stake our claim to form the next government in Goa", he said.

"We are seeking Governor's appointment".

"We will stake claim to form the government as we are the largest party", said Ibobi.

In the Assembly elections held in March a year ago, the Congress had bagged 17 seats in the 40-member House, falling short of the majority figure by four seats. Also, for the BJP to see is Siddharamaiah's one-man-centric vote-bank politics - one that the party paid a huge price for. "We have 16 legislators with us and with that strength we are the single largest party in the (Goa) Assembly". His statements were echoed by Goa Congress chief Girish Chodankar. The BJP, however, was invited to form the government by the Governor on the basis of a post-poll arrangement which showed a majority. "In Karnataka, the MLAs are on one side and the governor on the other and you know what attempt is being made".

The JD (U)-BJP alliance together with other allies have 131 seats in the 243 Assembly. The "material" the court had sought in its late-night hearing is the letter of support that chief minster Yeddyurappa had received from party MLAs. If they have allowed the single-largest party to come to power in Karnataka, then they should allow that here as well.

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav too wanted Bihar Governor Satyapal Malik to invite his party to form the government as the leader of the single largest party in the state Assembly.

According to reports on ANI, Congress's Goa in-charge Chella Kumar today said he along with more leaders will meet the governor of Goa and ask him to invite his party to form the government.

"Former Bihar deputy chief minister and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav appealed to all opposition parties to get united to save constitution and democracy".
