Solo Showdown Limited Time Mode Announced

Ninja Proves He's a Solo Squad Master After Winning 1v7

Fortnite Competitive Mode Possibly Being Developed

Unlike other limited time modes, the Fortnite Solo Showdown LTM will not change any of the core gameplay, keeping everything the same. Instead, Fortnite Solo Showdown will keep track of a player's performance during 50 rounds. Not only does the Fortnite Solo Showdown use a leaderboard system and grant epic bragging rights, it also allows the best of the best to earn V-Bucks. The developer is introducing a new Limited Time Mode they're calling Solo Showdown. Everyone who completes 50 matches will receive a one-off spray. You'll get 100 points for a win, down to 25 for finishing in the bottom quarter of players. It's not yet clear how the mode will work in terms of cross-platform play (whether iOS players are measured directly against console or PC players, or they get their own rankings). Under Playlists, you'll even find past limited time modes such as 50 vs 50, Solid Gold and so on.

Place between 50 and 5 and you'll get 13,500 V-bucks, while fourth, third and second place get 25,000 and the victor gets a whopping 50,000.

As you can probably guess from the name, Solo Showdown will be an every-man-for-himself mode that's inaccessible to players queuing as duos or squads. Get some practice knocked out in the standard solo queue in Fortnite Battle Royale, but make sure you get your 50 placement matches done before the end date.

The new Fortnite Solo Showdown mode is available to play now, and won't be disappearing until May 21. 5th through 50th earn 13,500 V-Bucks and 51st through 100th will receive 7,500. And yes, it sounds very much like that includes a more permanent solution for hardcore PvP types: Epic says a big announcement about competitive play is coming next week. If you're interested in participating, you can read the full rules over on Fortnite's official website.
