The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a United Kingdom -based activist group supportive of the Syrian opposition, said, "Six explosions rocked the western countryside of Homs today evening, Thursday the 24th of May 2018, caused by rocket shelling believed to be Israeli, which targeted al-Dab'ah Military Airbase and its vicinity and outskirts in the western countryside of Homs", where pro-Syrian government forces, including Iran-backed Lebanese Shiite Muslim Hezbollah, were located.

The information about the alleged attack on Syrian positions by the US-led coalition "is not consistent with the reality", a military source said. It did not report any casualties.

State media reported the bombing raids, ordered by US President Donald Trump, has levelled positions in the eastern part of the country. It did not give additional details.

The attack sparked large explosions, which were heard throughout the area.

Government and allied forces control about 30 percent of Daraa, the rest of which is held by various factions, including a small contingent of fighters from the Islamic State jihadist group.

Missiles hit a weapons depot on Sunday belonging to the Lebanese Hezbollah movement at Syria's Dabaa military airbase in the central province of Homs, a monitor said.

Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Mikdad said the matter isn't even up for discussion, noting that the decision "concerns the sovereignty of Syria".

The US demand for an Iranian pullout likely centers on that being a major Israeli goal in Syria.

Washington also cautioned Syrian regime leader Bashar al Assad against broadening the conflict.

The strikes targeted "movements" of pro-government forces, near the T2 oil pumping station, the Observatory said.

The US warning comes following Syrian regime's attack on a de-escalation zone in northeastern Syria held by US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces. It was later revealed the fatalities included a number of Russian private contractors.

She called on Russian Federation, which has been one of Assad's strongest allies in the conflict, to use its influence to prevent further government military actions.

Syrian state media said a military airport near Homs city had come under missile attack which was repelled by its air defense systems on Thursday.
