Rajo said there were social media reports to the effect that some cases of Nipah had been detected in Meghalaya, but officials in the state denied any confirmed case. However, the State government had been able to bring the situation under control after an expert team of doctors detected the virus.

The outbreak of the Nipah virus has led to 14 fatalities so far.
