HBO Orders First Potential Spin-Off Pilot

Game of Thrones prequel series Jane Goldman

‘Game Of Thrones’ Prequel From Jane Goldman & George R.R. Martin Gets HBO Pilot Order

For even after next year's final season of Game of Thrones, HBO's time in Westeros will continue!

The as-yet-untitled prequel was created by British screenwriter Jane Goldman with author George RR Martin, whose novel series A Song of Ice and Fire is the basis for the Game of Thrones television series, HBO said in a statement. HBO stated that the show will reveal "the horrifying secrets of Westeros's history to [and] the true origin of the White Walkers, the mysteries of the East to the Starks of legend... it's not the story we think we know".

Still, there are a few other GoT prequel series in the works and no others have made it to the pilot stage yet, so this is good news! If that doesn't sound intriguing, then you're probably not a fan of the hit HBO series.

The university is featured in the group ranked from 151st to 200th out of the best 250 universities that are 50 years or younger. Besides jumping up one spot from last year's No. 21 ranking , it also was the only USA public university to rank in the top 25.

Goldman will be showrunner on the new series. Before anyone gets too excited, it seems highly unlikely that all four of the projects will end up getting a pilot ordered from HBO, no matter how hungry fans are for more content.

While no additional details have been released, HBO's desire to keep the final season of Game of Thrones separate and its own before launching the spinoffs may mean a 2020 launch for the prequel pilot. Goldman will write the script based on the pair's storyline. As previously announced, GOT creators/exec producers David Benioff and D. B. Weiss have no involvement in the potential offshoots. The others are being shepherded by Carly Wray ("Mad Men"), Brian Helgeland ("Mystic River") and Max Borenstein ("Godzilla, Kong: Skull Island"), and "Game of Thrones" co-executive producer Bryan Cogman.

Game of Thrones may be ending in 2019, but we could soon have a prequel series to look forward to. Her past screenwriting credits include "Stardust", "Kick Ass", "X-Men: First Class" and "X-Men: Days of Future Past", "Kingsman: The Secret Service" and "Kingsman: The Golden Circle".
