Jacques Villeneuve, the retired 1997 world champion, had led a parade lap earlier in the day in the Ferrari his late father drove to that victory. Some of the marshals were already celebrating.
"With the start we had, with the race we had, there was nothing more we could do", said Bottas, who has finished second four times this season, but hasn't yet won. Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel is second with 96 points and Red Bull Racing's Daniel Ricciardo is third with 72 points. This is what some circuits will do, they'll say "leader's on his third last lap, second last lap, this is the last lap", then they'll give the guy waving the flag points at where the leader is.
Hamilton started from fourth place and stayed in position while Vettel led away from pole position in the opening stint, with the pair separated by Valtteri Bottas and Max Verstappen. "I'm sure it's going to be on the way soon".
Going into the weekend, Mercedes-AMG's Lewis Hamilton leads the 2018 Drivers' Championship with 110 points. "I'm just so happy that I finished".

Verstappen's podium was his second of the year, and it eases some of the pressure he has felt with a series of mistakes that cost him and the Red Bull team in Azerbaijan and Monaco.
Hamilton's early pit-stop on an enforced two-stop strategy, due to an engine heating problem, had done him no favours, but when Raikkonen pitted after 33 laps the Englishman was able to hang on and regain fifth as the Ferrari rejoined.
