Kim Kardashian jetting to Memphis to meet recently released prisoner Alice Johnson for first time

Kardashian, 37, first heard about the 63-year-old woman's plight on social media last year and started conferring with her lawyers about what she could do to help.

Kardashian West flew into the Memphis airport around 1 p.m. and went to a house in Southaven, Mississippi for a meeting with Johnson and an interview with Hoda Kotb with the "Today" show.

Following their meeting, on June 6, Trump commuted Johnson's life sentence for a nonviolent drug offense, enabling her to be released from prison. I go 'OK. Kim is coming, ' she's like 'I'm ready. "I hope maybe this inspires more people to talk to the people in power that you can have an affect over them for the greater good of other people".

Ms Johnson was convicted in 1996 for her part in a cocaine trafficking operation involving more than a dozen people.

The President's daughter connected Kardashian with her husband, Jared Kushner, who took an interest in Johnson's case, according to Kardashian West. "My life is completely intertwined forever with those who have been left behind".

She added, "People have been asking me, 'Are you getting into politics?' I'm like, 'No, I am still doing me, but I enjoy this".
