Arsenal in ‘advanced talks’ with Bayer Leverkusen’s Bernd Leno

Arsenal close in on double signing to bolster back division

Arsenal set to sign Bernd Leno with Bayer Leverkusen willing to let goalkeeper leave for £22m

And it is believed that the Spaniard is nearing two more additions to his squad having quickly made moves for Leno and Sokratis, who could be Arsenal players by the end of the week.

Arsenal fans will be happy about reports that new manager Unai Emery wants to sign a new goalkeeper because the have for always been urging former boss Arsene Wenger to replace Petr Cech because he is now old and can't handle the pressure.

The former Chelsea goalkeeper has just one year left on his current contract.

The Leverkusen shot-stopper narrowly missed out on a World Cup place with Germany meaning a transfer will be easier to complete.

Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Voller recently explained to Bild: "Leno can leave but only on our terms".

"Leno already had a concrete offer from Napoli in 2017, but we didn't have an equivalent backup at the time".

As Zeqiri noted, new Gunners head coach Unai Emery is looking to make changes in midfield and could soon add Lucas Torreira to his squad from Sampdoria.

Arsenal are now attempting to negotiate the signing of Sokratis Papastathopoulos from Borussia Dortmund for £16m, so funds will begin to become incredibly tight if Arsenal were to then go on to trigger Torreira's release clause.

Arsenal's head of recruitment Sven Mislintat had always been scouting for players in these areas even before Wenger left and there is now firm interest in Totteira, who is 22 and has a £22 million release clause.

Arsenal finished way down in sixth in the Premier League last season.
