Senegal wrap up Russia 2018 preparations with win over S Korea

Poland will open their World Cup campaign against African nation Senegal.

Poland qualified for Fifa World Cup finals for the first time in 12 years, thanks to Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski's chart-topping exploits.

The 29 year old Bayern Munich forward is the hero and captain of his nation, Poland's all time goalscorer and the first player to score 16 goals in a European campaign, he is hungry for more in Russian Federation. Seen by many as a dark horse for the tournament, Colombia will be tough to beat.

Fabianski played most of the qualifiers but Szczesny returned for the final two. Japan's performance will depend on their star players, who are playing in the top European leagues. On defense, they will be counting on Napoli's Kalidou Koulibaly to hold a somewhat porous back line together. Senegalese coach Aliou Cisse likes his team to play very direct in attack by exploiting the pace and skill of his front players.

"After a dozen or so years of drought, we are back at the World Cup and I hope we will show our best".

McDonald's to switch to paper straws in all UK restaurants
The fast food chain's unprecedented move - which will also affect all restaurants in Ireland - will come into effect in September. Last month, McDonald's shareholders overwhelmingly voted down a proposal to study alternatives to plastic straws.

Nawalka has created a hard-working unit ever since taking over the reigns of the team after their failure to qualify for Fifa World Cup 2014 in Brazil. His exemplary work-rate and tackling abilities were at the display when he played a key role in Monaco's Ligue 1 title-winning campaign in 2016/17 season. The Senegalese midfield is all England-based, barring the promising youngster Ismaila Sarr who plays in France.

Anything less than a quarter-final appearance by Los Cafeteros will be viewed in Colombia as an unsuccessful tournament.

Each team in this group features a goalscorer that could propel their team into the next round of the World Cup. For a team that has been on a slow but steady decline over the past decade, this move would seem to most as somewhat ominous. Poland finished second bottom of their 2010 World Cup qualification group despite being drawn in a seemingly easy group with Slovakia, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Northern Ireland and San Marino. It is nearly asking them to assume the roles of player/coach, a tall order in World Cup competition. Poland are second-favourites for the group and Senegal will need at least a point if they want to progress. Senegal will have to be at their best to beat Japan and can not take anything for granted.
