Former Oregon Duck Killed in Car Crash

Police: Former Oregon football player killed in a single-car accident in Eugene

He played 38 games in three seasons with the Ducks.

On Thursday the former Oregon Linebacker's body was found five hours following a single vehicle accident early Friday morning. Police responded and found the body.

According to police, a woman was walking in the area at 6:51 a.m. when she saw a hand, leading to the discovery of Leiato's body. The driver said initially he was the only person in the vehicle, but it was reported later he lied to Eugene Police and was issued a DUII.

Authorities said Leiato was in his friend's auto when it crashed and rolled over into some brush on the side of the road.

Chavarin, who is suspected of drunk driving, had told police that there were no passengers in the vehicle when he crashed his Kia sedan. Chavarin was taken to the hospital and then cited for a DUI.
