The phone's claim to fame is a 6.4-inch 1080p OLED display with a 92.26% screen-to-body ratio, making this the nearly bezel-free phone we have all been looking forward to. The OPPO Find X Automobili Lamborghini Edition Smartphone with 512GB storage and Super VOOC flash charge technology costs Euro 1699 (approx $1999 / Rs 1,34,000). The latest attempt at delivering a pure full-screen phone is Oppo's Find X.
From a distance, it's easy to mistake the OPPO Find X for the Samsung Galaxy S9, with its near-edge-to-edge screen and curvy body. Some slight variations in price are also possible. If it makes you feel any better, the Huawei Mate RS Porsche Design with 512 GB storage had a 2,100 launch price so that makes this Find X sound affordable.
Disclosure - The writer is in Paris attending the Find X launch on Oppo's invite. Oppo says that the slider activates within milliseconds to pop open the front camera, detect your face, and unlock your phone, but if that technology were to ever fail, it means going back to using swipe patterns, or worse still... never having access to your front or back camera.
Mohamed Salah's fitness not solely at fault for Egypt's woes - Hector Cuper
Hosts Russia got their 2018 World Cup campaign off to the flawless start, annihilating Saudi Arabia in their opening game. And the Egypt global had to watch on as Uruguay claimed a 1-0 win over his side in their group stage opener.
It means Oppo can fit a 6.4-inch display, which curves slightly around the sides of the handset. This is because Oppo had previously launched a device called N1, which was considered as "one of the most innovative phones of its time". The entire assembly would come out of the phone's chassis when the camera app is opened, and will simply squeeze back into place when the app is closed. It may be available in two colour options, Bordeaux Red and Glacier Blue. When you want to snap a pic, a motor raises the top center section of the phone up to reveal the cameras. It will also automatically retract when you exit the app. We're looking at a Snapdragon 845 processor, 8GB of RAM, up to 256GB of storage, 3,730 mAh camera with VOOC fast-charging, and Android 8.1 Oreo running the show, with Color OS on top. The company might go with the ultrasonic proximity sensor and piezoelectric earpiece for the Find X.
But in actual fact, the Find X has a 25-megapixel front-facing camera and a 3D facial scanning system. That's about $1,156, £878 or AU$1,568. We do know it's in line for a global release with Oppo entering four European countries (Spain, France, Italy and the Netherlands) from June 19 with plans to expand to more in the future. But at least Oppo did not promise us a bezelless smartphone.
As for the price, the Find X retails for almost $700 in China, but when it is sold the USA that price will go skywards very easily.
