Melania Trump Visits Immigrant Children at Border After Telling President to End Separation Practice

On Thursday, Melania Trump faced criticism over her choice of outerwear after making an unannounced visit to the Texas border near Mexico.

The document was an executive order ending the practice of separating families at the U.S. border.

What does the order do?

The separations were enacted as part of Trump's zero-tolerance immigration policy, which holds that any adult crossing the border illegally will be criminally prosecuted. With the requested modifications, undocumented immigrant families would be able to be detained together during criminal proceedings.

This visit was an attempt to lend support to those caring for the immigrant children, although Trump did not make a public statement about the plight of separated families until this past Sunday.

Asks Attorney General Jeff Sessions to "prioritize the adjudication of cases involving detained families". I sent a letter asking the United Nations to send observers to investigate the unconscionable separation of families at the border.

Mrs. Trump had changed into a pale yellow jacket before arriving in McAllen and wore that during the more than hour-long visit to the center, but donned the green jacket once again as she returned to the White House.

No plan has been announced. "Congress must now act + find a lasting solution that is consistent with our shared values;the same values that so many come here seeking as they endeavor to create a better life for their families". Some children have been taken to different states.

Some 2,300 migrant children have been separated from their families since May, according to the government. Some children could have lost pieces of paper with relatives' contact information, or forgotten a phone number they'd once memorized.

Cellular Carriers Swear Off Location Data Sales
Within hours of Verizon's announcement, AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile - made similar promises to safeguard customers' location data. Sprint said account holders must "generally be notified" if the data is to be used so they can decide whether they consent.

He said: "If you're really, really pathetically weak, the country is going to be overrun with millions of people".

As congressional Republicans look to pass sweeping immigration bills Thursday, Trump says Democrats are obstructionists and is accusing them of not caring about the children separated from their parents. If media would spend their time & energy on her actions & efforts to help kids - rather than speculate & focus on her wardrobe - we could get so much accomplished on behalf of children.

The president tweeted that it was a message to the "fake news media".

NY is filing its own lawsuit that alleges the family separation policy violated parental rights.

After signing his executive order this week, President Trump said he wanted the measures to be backed by legislation.

"Pursuant to these court decisions, minors detained as part of a family unit can not be detained in unlicensed facilities for longer than a presumptively reasonable period of 20 days, at which point, minors must be released or transferred to a licensed facility", according to a "Myth vs. Fact" statement provided by Homeland Security.

Trump's solution is to imprison parents and children together.

It's not clear what will happen if the court rejects that request.

It was unclear which bases would be used.
