Somewhat surprisingly, it marks the first time Nissan and the Italian design house have worked together, and they clearly wanted to put pedal to the metal. The newly revealed take on the GT-R pushes the boundaries from a design standpoint, with its distinctive gold and gray color scheme enhancing a variety revisions to the exterior of the latest-generation GT-R. The roofline has been lowered by 2.13-inches and sports a lower middle section.
The round rear taillights are a separate floating element.
Throw in a large adjustable wing and 21-inch rims, and the GT-R50 prototype won't be confused with the stock vehicle any time soon. The normal GT-R's twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V6 has been supplemented with big turbos from the GT3-class race auto, along with bigger intercoolers, more aggressive cams and beefier internals including the pistons, rods, bearings and crankshaft.
The rear end is the most outlandish part of the auto, carved out to look like a modular piece - a design emphasised by, you guessed it, yet more gold.
"How often do you get to ask, 'what if we created a GT-R without limits, ' and then actually get to build it?" said Alfonso Albaisa, Nissan's senior vice president for global design. This is a rare window in time when two big moments intersect: 50 years of Italdesign shaping the automotive world and 50 years of Nissan generating excitement through our iconic GT-R. Italdesign developed, engineered, and built the auto. The tell tale Nissan GT-R twin tail lamps are present but look a lot more modern and a lot more sculptured than ever before. The six-speed dual-clutch transmission was also reinforced to handle all that output.
Gold highlights are used throughout the dramatically restyled exterior, while the car's original features have been exaggerated, and aerodynamically improved.

Wade described the feeling of becoming a champion to George during the conversation and that seemed to resonate well with George. He joins LeBron James , Kevin Durant, Chris Paul, DeAndre Jordan and others as some of the top free agents this year.
Nissan and Italdesign have teamed to create the aptly named Nissan GT-R50 by Italdesign prototype, commemorating the 50th anniversaries of both the GT-R and the Italian design and engineering company.
The chassis has also been tweaked through the addition of the Bilstein DampTronic I continuously adjustable damping system, connected to Brembo disc brakes with red six-piston front and four-piston rear callipers.
Inside, there's a bespoke carbon-fiber steering wheel with a flat bottom in black Alcantara trim and matching black Italian leather seats.
21 inch wheels have been designed exclusively for this vehicle. Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires, sized 255/35 R21 in the front and 285/30 R21 in the rear, add a level of grip needed to harness the engine's power.
Next year, Nissan is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the model, produced from 1969 as a version of the Skyline coupe.
