The trouble is that HDR is already part of the 4K package as things stand, so this is more about taking features off premium subscribers, rather than providing new features for videophiles.
Price ranges from €17 to €20 a month (£15-£17.70), and some have reported Ultra stealing features from the "Premium" package. That's because it removes high dynamic range support from Premium and charges more per month for HDR and Dolby Vision video under a new Ultra tier.
A Philippines-based user "fat Dudan" tweeted that Netflix Philippines did not have Peretti's stand-up show One of the Greats. For less than $14 a month, you can enjoy all the movies and TV shows you like, in Ultra HD, on up to four devices simultaneously. The addition of the Ultra tier, if it turns out to rollout to everyone, would effectively be a price hike of around $6 for Premium users.
Netflix is supposedly thinking about adding a fourth plan that will include access to HDR content in addition to everything now available in the Premium plan. To continue streaming on four devices, you'll need to upgrade to the Ultra plan.
But don't panic just yet.
President Trump Hopes For Good Ties With New President-Elect Of Mexico
It is hard to see AMLO continuing his predecessors' security policies and anti-immigration efforts on Mexico's southern border. President Nieto, who took office in 2012, continued this trend, going out of his way to please his American counterparts.
So the new prices could be justified by premium exclusive content, and not just high-resolution video streams.
Netflix has all but confirmed this promotional material is geniune.
CNET got confirmation from Netflix that the company is "testing slightly different price points and features to better understand how consumers value Netflix". In October, the company bumped its Standard and Premium plans by $1 and $2, respectively.
Netflix runs a test in Europe right now that lists a fourth subscription plan called Ultra to some customers when they open the plan selection screen on the site. It seems unlikely we'd see another hike so soon, especially such a big one.
