- The PGA Tour unveiled its 46-tournament schedule Tuesday including the new stop in Blaine, Minnesota for the 3M Open during the week of the Fourth of July.
It marks the first time the PGA Tour has hosted a tournament in Detroit's city limits and will be the first PGA event in the state since the defunct Buick Open at Warwick Hills Golf and Country Club in Grand Blanc 1958-2009.
The Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill will be played the week before the Players while the WGC Match-Play Championship and a PGA event in the Dominican Republic come two weeks before the Masters, whose lead in remains the Texas Open. Here's the full PGA schedule.
"We're extremely excited to welcome a World Golf Championships event to Memphis for the first time and announce our 2019 date", said WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational Executive Director Darrell Smith.
The three playoff events are The Northern Trust at Liberty National in New Jersey; the BMW Championship at Medinah outside Chicago; and the Tour Championship, which will be August 22-25 at East Lake in Atlanta. "This will enhance the visibility of the FedEx Cup play-offs and overall fan engagement with the PGA Tour and the game as a whole". The Dell Technologies Championship, formerly the Deutsche Bank Championship, ends after its 2018 event. The Players' Championship is also moving from May to mid-March.
The discrepancy in the men's and women's pay was obvious in Sunday's results: The PGA Tour's Greenbrier Classic had a total purse of $7.3 million, with $1.31 million awarded to the victor, Kevin Na; the Thornberry Creek LPGA Classic had a total purse of $2 million, with $300,000 awarded to the champion, Kim Sei-young.

"It's a market we always wanted to go back to, and we're thrilled that we will now have that chance", PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan said.
This year's Tour Championship ends September 23. It will be February 21-24, the same week as the World Golf Championships Mexico Championship.
"And by concluding at the end of August, the FedEx Cup play-offs no longer have the challenge of sharing the stage with college and professional football".
The RBC Canadian Open moves a week before the U.S. Open, held next year at Pebble Beach.
CP has sponsored the LPGA Tour event since November 2013.
