He equalled his own record of winning 34 consecutive sets at SW19 by taking the the first two against Anderson.

Not only is Federer the best of all time on the Wimbledon grass, and not only is Anderson historically not great on the grass (he's never been to the quarterfinals at Wimbledon before this year), but the 32-year-old South African has never won a set off Fed-Ex anywhere.

Defending Wimbledon title holder Roger Federer was knocked out of this year's championships by South African Kevin Anderson in the quarter-finals on Wednesday.

Nadal faces the victor of Juan Martin del Potro and Gilles Simon while Federer takes on US Open finalist Kevin Anderson in the quarterfinals.

The victory sends Anderson to Friday's semifinal, in which he'll face three-time Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic, who turned back Kei Nishikori in four sets.

Federer was completely out of sorts by now and his uncharacteristic struggles on his forehand didn't improve in the fourth set.

Our recommended way to watch Roger Federer online without cable is via Hulu Live TV with Wimbledon coverage. It's one of those average days you have to try to win the match, and I just couldn't get it done today.

Many Irish will echo Gareth Southgate's attitude to 'football's coming home' song
Speaking to Sky News , the ex-footballer said: " Football's coming home , I couldn't listen to it for 20 years, frankly". England is making waves at the World Cup in Russian Federation , and they're being followed by a bittersweet tune.

Tendulkar, the former India captain widely renowned as one of the greatest batsmen of all time, was impressed by Federer's form after the 20-time Grand Slam champion was spotted praticising his forward defence during his victory over Adrian Mannarino at Wimbledon. You need to go with that mindset against a player like Roger.

"He claims that he didn't see what Nishikori has done, but apparently he always sees what I do", Djokovic said afterward, "something that I don't think is fair". "It's disappointing, being up two-sets to love and having a match point".

"I was actually playing really high-quality tennis, having a few sniffs on his serve, nearly felt my mind wondering, Well, maybe I can do this".

When the US Open finalist took the third-set tiebreak, however, his belief grew. The 6 ft 8' South African, who made the US Open final past year, served out the set in the tenth game to push the quarterfinal into the decider.

Serving at 5-6, Anderson fell behind Love-30, which put Federer two points form defeat.

Not quite to the same extent as Anderson, but Djokovic too was forced to improve as his meeting with Nishikori raged on, particularly after the 24th seed showed a sturdier response to level after two sets.

When he finished runner-up to Rafael Nadal at the US Open past year, he was the first South African man in a Slam final since Curren at the 1984 Australian Open. He may well pause to take stock of a journey that started in Johannesburg with him gleaning as much knowledge as possible from global tennis magazines, cutting out articles on the sport's greatest rivalries, while pouring over the Grand Slams whenever they were broadcast on South African television. He won the Australian Open for the sixth time earlier this year.
