Archbishop Justin Welby expressed his delight of presiding over the christening of Prince Louis and wrote on Twitter before the ceremony: "Please join me in praying for him and his family on this special day".

The robe, which was handmade by Angela Kelly, the Queen's personal dressmaker, is a replica of the original christening gown designed for Queen Victoria's eldest daughter.
