A recent report revealed that Chelsea is keen on keeping Hazard, though his domestic and worldwide teammate and goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois could be on his way to Madrid after Los Blancos lost out on Alisson.

The Reds have already brought in Fabinho and Xherdan Shaqiri this summer, whilst Naby Keita's move from RB Leipzig has gone through as well having been agreed in 2017, but one position needed strengthening on top of that.

The 25-year-old Alisson is set to become the most expensive goalkeeper in history, his fee eclipsing the $62 million Juventus paid to Parma in 2001 for Gianluigi Buffon and the $46 million Ederson cost Manchester City from Benfica last summer. Anfield sources have told Goal that Liverpool will pay £56m up front for Alisson, with £2.2m of that going to his former club, Internacional.

"In terms of my life and my career, it's a huge step for me being part of this club and this family", said Allison.

Jurgen Klopp has given a clear indication that Liverpool will not resurrect their deal to sign Nabil Fekir before the transfer window closes.

Alisson is Brazil's number one and was named as the best goalkeeper in the Serie A after his performances for Roma last season.

At the baptism the family of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge for the first time appeared in full force - with three children. Louis was sound asleep as he was carried into the Chapel Royal by Kate for the christening ceremony which lasted 40 minutes.

However, Klopp dismissed concerns over Alisson's price, citing the realities of the market.

'We have everything we need for the next season, because I don't think we will do anything more.

'We were not too bad past year but we had to improve and we tried that on the transfer market. We are really happy to have him here now.

Chelsea were ready to move for Alisson if Thibaut Courtois departed but Liverpool have acted swiftly to secure their No 1 goalkeeper target.

Monchi confirmed that Alisson is now in Liverpool, saying "Alisson is in Liverpool and we're at a very advanced stage, but the deal is not done yet".
