The YouTube app for iOS received dark mode earlier this year, with Google promising to roll out the feature to Android devices in the future. The Dark Mode has become very popular recently due to the effect it has on the user's eyes especially during the night.
Upon doing so, YouTube's blindingly-white color scheme will switch to a darker, charcoal color. That applies to all the visible regions including the search page, settings section, and everywhere else, including even the video place holder which now is completely black until the video starts streaming.
Users were bit surprised and few thought that there is some malfunction in their phone or bug but it was the new feature of YouTube which was introduced.
It's interesting that it took YouTube this long to get the Android app updated with the feature.
The dark theme will also be used on the compact, minimised video player and all tabs. Many have complained about jumping from a dark video to a bright white screen was hard on the eyes when they watch videos in the dark.

Only [he has] one thing he likes, the other is what we like to do. "It's our decision. But new Bayern coach Niko Kovac has confirmed Lewandowski does want to move.
When the feature has fully rolled out, the option can be turned on and off by the user.
Anyways though, like we already said, Dark Mode on YouTube for Android isn't available for all the users yet. However, the wait of Android users is finally over, as YouTube's Dark Mode is finally rolling out for the Android app. "Plus, this is consistent with many other applications that have a dark mode".
The "Dark theme" toggle can also be located in the Settings menu where it's listed under the General menu just below the "Remind me to take a break" feature.
YouTube has been making changes and adding updates to both its site and app since last August.
