Flight Tracker reports Flight 1942 left Charlotte at 8:56 p.m. Monday and arrived at LaGuardia at 10:44 p.m., about 20 minutes behind schedule. But at around 6 a.m. Tuesday morning, the cleaning crew found the fetus hidden inside the toilet under sheets of toilet paper.
The fetus was between three to six months along.
The City Medical Examiner is working on determining how the fetus died.
LGA Airport officials tweeted that travelers may experience a delay due to an "out of service aircraft".

Matt Miller, a spokesperson for American Airlines told USA TODAY, the airline is cooperating with law enforcement in its investigation of "this tragic and sensitive situation". American Airlines said it was assisting police with their investigation.
The cleaning crew immediately contacted their manager, who in turn contacted law enforcement, Franco said.
The Queens District Attorney's Office is investigating the incident.
