After the meeting, a council rep emailed THR saying: "At this evening's regular City Council meeting, the West Hollywood City Council voted unanimously to approve the Resolution".

The resolution is only a suggestion for action to be taken by the City of Los Angeles, but the unanimous vote from West Hollywood's City Council sends a strong message.

Meanwhile, Hollywood Chamber of Commerce President Leron Gubler said they are now "working with the police" in regards to the latest violent destruction of the star, and they plan "to prosecute to the full extent of the law".

Mark Hamill likes the idea of Carrie Fisher getting her own Hollywood Walk of Fame star, replacing Donald Trump.

Since he became president, the star was vandalized several times. Now eleven years later, suddenly West Hollywood simply can not handle that star being in place.

The resolution also highlighted the #metoo and #timesup movements, which swept across the U.S. past year, stating that the ongoing existence of Trump's sidewalk star "should not be acceptable in the Hollywood and entertainment industry communities".

Mayor John Duran was quite pleased with the move and took to Twitter to announce the development.

Mr Trump's star was added in 2007 in recognition of his television work prior to his entry into politics, including his hosting of the NBC show "The Apprentice" and his producing of the Miss Universe beauty pageants. The Chamber of Commerce would have the final say in removing the star.
