Chase like his Hall of Fame father Bill, got his first win at a Road Course, so is it like father, like son, we will have to wait and see. On race day, the big three were looking like the best of the field once again, but the #9 Sun Energy1 vehicle of Chase Elliott was a man on a mission.

The most recent NASCAR race in which 1988 NASCAR Cup Series champion Bill Elliott has driven is the 2012 Coke Zero 400, the annual summer Cup Series race at Daytona International Speedway.

Truex ran second to Elliott for the entire final stage before beginning a steady close.

This first win for Elliott also marked the 250th career win for Hendrick Motorsports. He pulled out to a half-second lead while Martin Truex Jr. was fighting to get back to the front after restarting 12th.

Midway through the segment, the Big 3 were running in the top 10, but Elliott dominated and beat Busch by 1.3 seconds. Almirola pitted along with AJ Allmendinger, who suffered front-end damage after contact with Logano.

Hamlin, Elliott and Erik Jones pitted on lap 17 as teams revealed their strategies while Busch, who dominated the segment, and Truex stayed on track.

Dominic Grieve: I'll quit the Conservative party if Boris Johnson becomes leader
Sahar al-Faifi, who has covered her face since she was 14, said that negative rhetoric is making Muslim women feel "unsafe". That step would mean he could not represent the party, and would be barred from standing in a future leadership contest.

Busch took charge on the restart, pulling away to a lead of almost three seconds over Truex, with Hamlin third and Chase Elliott fourth. His last Xfinity Series race was in October 2005 at Memphis. It occurred on an afternoon where he led a race-high 52 laps and won Stage 2 - his third consecutive race with a stage win. "I'm so thrilled, so emotional, so much relief, working on three years and I hadn't won one". Pole-sitter Denny Hamlin finished 13th.

Paul Menard was dealt a blow to his playoff chances before the race even started when his No. 21 Ford failed inspection Sunday morning and he was sent to the rear of the 37-car field.

Hamlin traversed the 2.45-mile layout at 125.534 miles per hour in qualifying on Saturday, just ahead of series points leader Kyle Busch.

The win marks Elliott's first Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series victory.

Truex and seven-time champion Jimmie Johnson fought to get back in the top 12 at the end of the opening round after dropping out.

Both of these statements are set to change on Saturday, August 25, as Elliott, 62, is set to return to NASCAR in the Xfinity Series race at Road America.
