Panthers preseason Q&A with Bills Wire for Week 1 matchup

The Carolina Panthers are kicking off their preseason with a visit to the Buffalo Bills, a game that reunited Benjamin, the former Panthers receiver now playing in Buffalo, with his old quarterback in Newton. That may not be the case anymore, as Newton didn't seem able to say what he wanted when approaching Benjamin in-person.

Benjamin eventually requested a trade and landed in Buffalo in the middle of last season for draft picks. Newton followed, trying to catch up, before seeming to give up.

"If you would've put me with any other quarterback, let's be real, you know what I'm saying?" The beef stems from this quote from Benjamin speaking to The Athletic on his time in Carolina.

Police constable Stacey Alway, who arrested Stokes at the scene, said he was calm and compliant when she dealt with him. Stokes, who was smoking on the evening, allegedly flicked his cigarette butt at O'Connor's head.

Prior to Thursday night's preseason game between Newton's Carolina Panthers and Benjamin's Buffalo Bills, Cam went over to speak with Benjamin. Nothing to see here, just a few position battles.

Panthers tight end Greg Olsen called Benjamin's barbs "weird", adding Sunday (via Panthers.com): "Things didn't work out here for him".

Benjamin may have walked away from the tense exchange with Newton, but he was happy run into the end zone shortly thereafter. When Benjamin left Newton hanging, Newton asked for privacy and had an apparent argument with his former teammate.
