A former FGCU assistant coach was arrested Thursday in NY.
Jones was arrested and charged with third-degree assault, according to the police report.
Jones has been charged after he reportedly punched a man Sunday on a Long Island City street.
After he punched Szabo, police say Jones got into an SUV and drove away leaving the man on the pavement.
He now coaches at Wake Forest University.
Jamill Jones allegedly slugged Boca Raton marketing professional Sandor Szabo so hard on Sunday that he fell backward, hit his head on the concrete and lost consciousness. He was arraigned today on a misdemeanor assault charge and released on his own recognizance after entering his plea.

The New York Post cited law enforcement sources in reporting that a local resident confronted Szabo about the noise he was making, and that Szabo hit that person in the face.
"The court made the proper ruling with the charges, and the District Attorney's office made the proper ruling with the charges", the lawyer, Alain Massena, said.
