In the big match of the opening round, Arsenal were defeated 2-0 at home by Manchester City as new manager Unai Emery was welcomed to the competition with defeat to opposite Pep Guardiola's men at the Emirates Stadium in London.

And it felt like they seamlessly continued that form as they comfortably defeated an Arsenal side looking slightly disjointed in their first competitive match under Unai Emery.

The first game of the season for Liverpool is almost upon us and I couldn't be more excited!

For me, it is a frustration to have lost but it is one experience more to continue progressing.

There was no way back for Arsenal at that point and the three points went back with Guardiola to Manchester. "We finished it with the spirit I want". They do not have that searing turn of speed that is needed to really threaten Premier League defences. They need to take the game to City, if they do this - they will hurt this City team that looks to be flying at the moment.

While the rest of the league attempted to reload in order to give the Citizens a run for their money, Manchester City splashed plenty of cash of its own, signing winger Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City for a club-record $76.6 million.

Imran Khan's PTI, opposition parties struggle to consolidate their position in parliament
Party chairman Imran Khan , widely touted to be the country's next prime minister, is expected to take oath later this week. After the election of the new speaker, the outgoing speaker will give him the oath and hand over charge of the new house.

"We arrived after a hard season and I told him I want to help him and want him to stay".

However, despite starting to threaten the City goal, it was the Gunners who would concede again, with Bernardo Silva producing a clinical finish from Benjamin Mendy's second assist of the game.

"We're getting obsessed with this stupid "let's play out from the back, split the centre-halfs either side of the 18-yard box and go and play from there".

Arsenal bought him ostensibly as one for the future, but he was thrown in against perhaps the most accomplished midfield the Premier League has ever seen.

"He trained just one week but we needed him today, and he did so well except when he was very exhausted at the end". Many people have drawn comparisons with us and Everton last summer and it is important to avoid underachieving as much as they did. With the addition of Mahrez, they have an even better squad than they did last season. "We must remain grounded when we win and united when we don't".
