The news was first shared by an InfoWars personality, who tweeted a screenshot of Jones' Twitter account - indicating the company limited some of Jones' account features temporarily.

Other social media giants have permanently removed accounts linked to Mr Jones and Infowars which were deemed to have broken their... In other words, they gave him special treatment, just as they did after CNN's report that about 20 of Jones' tweets violated their TOS.

Twitter Inc has banned US conspiracy theorist Alex Jones from tweeting for seven days, saying one of his tweets violated its content policy.

"Last night's purge was a coordinated effort and had nothing to do with enforcing hate speech rule", Jones said on his talkshow.

Monday's high-level talks were proposed by the North last week as it lashed out at Washington for pushing ahead with sanctions. He added that continuing the discussions on the two leaders' summit in Pyongyang will help improve the inter-Korean ties.

Until now, chief executive Jack Dorsey had said that Jones hadn't violated Twitter's policies.

In the past few weeks, YouTube, Apple, Facebook and Spotify have all banned Jones' main platforms over concerns about his content. But after CNET pointed that out to Twitter, the platform reportedly suspended the InfoWars Periscope account as well. But Twitter has been under fire for their hesitation in taking the same action against Jones despite multiple violations of user policy. Jones's apps still remain available via Apple's App Store and Google's Play store, however.

Jones was banned after years of public outrage over lies spread by Infowars, including the infamous "Pizzagate" conspiracy and the false claim that the Sandy Hook shooting, in which 26 elementary school children and staff members were killed, was a hoax.
