Hurricane Olivia, according to the Central Pacific Hurricane Center's advisory issued at 11 a.m. ET Sunday, is approaching Hawaii with maximum sustained winds near 80 miles per hour and is expected to remain at hurricane strength through Monday evening.

Hurricane Olivia was expected to weaken to a tropical storm before making landfall on Hawaii. It was moving west at 6 miles per hour.

It is still too early to know what effects this hurricane will have on Hawai'i Island.

As of 11 a.m., the storm was located 330 miles north-northeast of Hilo and 375 miles east-northeast of Honolulu. Late Saturday or Sunday, the storm's expected to make a turn toward the west or west-southwest as a ridge builds north to the north.

"Olivia may get even closer than Lane did or directly across the chain, bringing localized damaging winds and possibly intense rain fall, flooding, very high surf and storm surge".

Rodgers leads Packers to unreal comeback vs. Bears
This is the LAST news any fan of the Green Bay Packers - or of lovely , fantastic football - would ever want to hear. After he did so, Bears defensive end Roy Robertson-Harris sacked him and landed right on Rodgers' left knee.

Mayor Kirk Caldwell this morning urged residents and visitors to remain vigilant about the threat of Hurricane Olivia and asked people not to hoard supplies. While the storm may get downgraded by the time it reaches Hawaii, many residents are staying prepared.

"With our planet experiencing the effects of climate change, we are going to have to treat these kinds of repeated events as a new reality, and not only prepare accordingly, but also tackle the emissions creating this problem". "We want everyone, especially Oahu to the Big Island to be preparing for a possible direct hit from Olivia", Robert Ballard, science and operations officer at Central Pacific Hurricane Center, said.

High temperatures were forecast to range from 84 to 89 degrees. Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 30 miles from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 120 miles.

On the current forecast track, Olivia is expected to approach the Hawaiian Islands in four to five days, forecasters said.
