By noon EDT on Monday, Florence had top sustained winds of 130 miles per hour (195 kph).
The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office has not announced any road blocks ahead of Hurricane Florence as of Monday afternoon. The storm is already 500 miles wide - meaning a large area will be at risk when it nears land.

And with little wind shear to pull the storm apart, Florence's hurricane wind field was expected to expand over the coming days, increasing its storm surge and inland wind threats, and raising the likelihood of life-threatening freshwater flooding.
Now tracking in the Atlantic Ocean southeast of the USA mainland, "A turn toward the northwest is forecast to occur late Wednesday night", the latest NHC dispatch stated.
"The Storms in the Atlantic are very risky".
