Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford was on target for the second straight game for England, who defeated Switzerland 1-0 at the King Power Stadium.

Rashford, who has had a hard start to the season with Manchester United, also notched the opener at Wembley in their Nations League clash with Spain on Saturday night, before scoring the only goal in their friendly at the King Power Stadium.

Harry Maguire and Danny Rose have admitted that there were heated words between the England players in the dressing room during friendly with Switzerland on Tuesday evening. Twenty years after he last pulled on an England shirt, Gascoigne remains a huge draw, partly with people saying thanks for the memories but also as a reminder of how the modern generation lack such a creative force of nature.

England went into their recent Nations League fixture against Spain with only three attacking players - Harry Kane, Marcus Rashford and Danny Welbeck. With Rashford finding himself some space, he met it firmly on the half volley to sweep home and put the Three Lions ahead.

It wasn't until the five minutes of stoppage time that Switzerland looked like getting an equaliser, and even then the finishing was wayward as both Albian Ajeti and Edimilson Fernandes sent shots high and wide of the target when they should have done better. For England, captain Eric Dier glanced a header narrowly wide from Rashford's clever free-kick.

But neither Cohn nor Porter said specifically what was inaccurate, and neither denied speaking to Woodward. I knew that people in office in these sensitive positions were not going to talk on the record.

Although, the Swiss got a big chance to punish them for poor defending but Xherdan Shaqiri shot wide from a one-on-one position with an on-rushing Jack Butland on six minutes.

Leicester City's Ben Chilwell and Demarai Gray have been promoted from the under 21s for Tuesday night's friendly with Switzerland and the pair have limited Premier League experience, though Southgate is truly down to the bare bones - so much so that there is no replacement for the newly-injured Dele Alli.

Southgate also praised his players for the way they attempted to rectify their own problems themselves at the break in Leicester.

"If he hadn't come on, he'd have done some running on the pitch after the match".

"I'm really pleased for him more than anything", Southgate told Sky Sports after the 20-year-old scored his fifth worldwide goal.
