The designation blocks any property those targeted may have in the US and prohibits Americans from doing business with them.

The US Department of Treasury blacklisted Russia's Volasys Silver Star company located in Vladivostok in terms of sanctions against North Korea, the US Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) reports on Tuesday.

US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley accused Moscow trying to cover up breaches of UN sanctions on North Korea after it pushed for changes to an independent report on sanctions violations.

The UN Security Council will meet on Monday over the implementation of sanctions on North Korea at the request of Washington, the USA mission to the United Nations said.

North Korea sells a range of IT services and products overseas, including website and app development, security software and biometric identification software that have military and law enforcement applications, Treasury says.

The United States and other council members have said there must be strict enforcement of sanctions until Pyongyang acts.

The Department of the Treasury also sanctioned a North Korean individual in the latest set of sanctions aimed at denuclearizing the regime. It said China Silver Star had earned millions of dollars of revenue, and its Russia-based subsidiary had revenue of hundreds of thousands of dollars in 2018.

Although virtually all North Koreans lack access to the internet, the United States says that IT is not only a source of revenue for its authoritarian government but used by the North for theft and intimidation.

Meanwhile, North Korea has denied responsibility for a cyber attack on Sony Pictures in 2014, for which Washington slapped sanctions on a North Korean person called "Pak Jin-hyok".

The Trump administration has maintained pressure on Pyongyang through sanctions in an effort to convince North Korea to give up its nuclear weapons, which are a threat to the US.

According to the worldwide atomic energy Agency (IAEA), North Korea does not fulfill agreements on denuclearization. Still, the White House said Monday that Trump has received a request from Kim for a second summit, and planning is in motion to make it happen.

The dispute between Russian Federation and the U.S as well as Western and other Security Council members has delayed the official release of the six-month report by the expert panel monitoring sanctions against North Korea.
