Baker Mayfield Leads Cleveland Browns To Win Over Jets

Cleveland Browns head coach Hue Jackson talks with quarterback Baker Mayfield

On a short week, the Jets are set to face the Cleveland Browns tonight on Thursday Night Football as it's best to sit Kearse once again, just like last week. Just a few days ago, Joseph was relaxing in South Florida with friends while Gonzalez missed four kicks in New Orleans and then got booted by the Browns. The tipping point came when Taylor left the game with a possible concussion. On the two-point conversion attempt, the Browns went full Philly Special (or is that Baker's Special?) - with Landry connecting to Mayfield in the end zone after a reverse handoff to tie the game, 14-14.

Mayfield's catch drew the Browns even with the Jets, 14-14, with 42 seconds remaining in the third quarter. The Browns really sparked when rookie cornerback Denzel Ward caused a fumble to give the offense good field position to start the second-half scoring with a field goal. He then rallied the Browns back from a two-touchdown deficit to a 21-17 comeback win over the Jets - snapping Cleveland's 19-game winless streak. That play seemed to get the Browns going with Cleveland following up that field goal drive with two consecutive touchdown drives.

It had been a while since the Cleveland Browns won a football game.

Cleveland, I think we have a quarterback.

Mayfield took over for Taylor just before the end of the first half. The last time they walked off the field with a win, it was Week 16 of the 2016 campaign, as Robert Griffin III led the team to a 20-17 victory over the San Diego Chargers.

The fridges are now open in Cleveland. The Dolphins defense forced Sam Darnold into two interceptions and they didn't let the Jets do much at all on the ground. Seriously. Enjoy this, Dawg Pound.
