As much as the Lakers would surely love to pair LeBron James with a co-star, they couldn't trade for Butler without including Lonzo Ball or Brandon Ingram.

Minnesota Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor is open to trading superstar Jimmy Butler according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

The 29-year-old turned down a four-year extension worth approximately $110 million earlier in the summer. Making another All-NBA team is certainly within reach.

In a statement, Towns said, "On June 25, 2015, I was drafted to and committed to the Minnesota Timberwolves". "On September 22nd, 2018, I made a recommitment to the Wolves and have the same feelings of excitement that I felt back in 2015".

I personally don't believe any of this to be true, it feels more like a chess move from the front office.

Towns, at age 23, is one of the best centers in the game. As we know, the Bulls traded Butler on draft night in 2017, for Zach LaVine, Kris Dunn and the No. 7 overall pick. All three of those teams have the cap space to sign Butler next summer, though, which will make it more hard for Minnesota to get proper value back in a deal for the four-time all-star.

Saudis indicate comfort with higher oil prices
US oil production in August averaged 10.9 million barrels per day, the EIA estimates - up by 120,000 barrels per day in June. Prices hit a two-month high Wednesday as Brent crude - the world's most closely followed gauge - rose above $79 a barrel.

In 59 games for the Timberwolves last season, Butler averaged 22.2 points per game on 47.4 per cent shooting. He is an offensive force.

Butler is a great player. Age and durability were the reasons that if it came down to Towns or Butler, Towns was going to be the choice of the Timberwolves.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity because neither the team nor Towns publicly revealed the financial terms of the deal. For most teams, their young players have already been in town for a couple of weeks. He only lasted one season with the Timberwolves.

Butler has been intrigued by the possibility of teaming with another star.

There is also a huge benefit for the point guard to be traded now ahead of next summer rather than stay in Minnesota and see out his contract before becoming a free agent. They don't want to rush into a deal, but they also don't want to start the season with the discord and awkwardness of Butler still being on the roster.
