Iran Guard fires missiles into Syria in revenge attack

Iran's Revolutionary Guards fire missiles into Syria over deadly military parade attack

The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) fired several surface-to-surface ballistic missiles at Takfiri militants in an area east of the Euphrates in Syria in retaliation for a recent terror attack in the Iran's southwestern city of Ahvaz.

On October 01, Iran fired several ballistic missiles at Islamic State targets in Syria.

The statement said many "takfiri terrorists" - a term often used by Iranian officials to describe Sunni Muslim extremists - had reportedly been killed in the attack.

The early Monday morning announcement does not give any details about the exact time or location of the attack or which group was targeted.

At least four of the missiles landed in the Hajin area of eastern Syria, where the Islamic State is still active, according to the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

Radio Farda can not verify the veracity of these videos.

Iranian state television broadcast footage of the missiles being launched, along with commentary saying they were a slap in the face toward Iran's foes, including the U.S., Israel and Saudi Arabia.

These attacks could involve Iranian-supplied missiles or not, depending on how strong or obvious Iran wants the connection to be. The missiles, launched from western Iran, flew over Iraq and landed near the city of Boukamal in the far southeast of Syria, they reported.

I am fully supportive of the manager and my teammates. "I think we showed improvement and we have to keep going", he added. That mistake took place after United drew 0-0 in the Champions League at home to Valencia .

Washington Post: "In a blow to Israel, Russia says it will send Syria powerful antiaircraft missiles" - "Russia said Monday it would equip Syria with sophisticated air defense systems, a move that could worsen a rift with Israel by limiting its ability to bomb across its northern border".

Iran has blamed the kingdom and its strongest regional ally, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for the attack. Further, bombing was also done using seven drones on rebel targets during the attack.

According to a statement by Iran's Intelligence Ministry, its forces found the hideout of the terrorists involved in the attack, and arrested 22 elements in connection with the incident.

"Terrorists used bullets in Ahvaz", Gen. Amir Ali Hajizadeh, chief of the Guard's aerospace division, told the semi-official Tasnim news agency.

The new strategy raises the stakes for the Trump administration in Syria, where it must navigate an array of obstacles that also include Russian support for Syrian President Bashar Assad, which has reduced his incentive to make concessions required to end the fighting.

Tehran also launched drone assaults on the site, state media reported.

Last month s shooting in the Iranian city of Ahvaz killed 24 people and was claimed by the Islamic State militant group.

The agency said the missiles hit the Syrian desert border town of Albu Kamal on the west of the Euphrates River, in the eastern province of Deir Ezzor.
