‘Tara’ Lead Actor Accused of Sexual Assault by Producer

A noted writer-producer Vinta Nanda on Monday took to social media to narrate her ordeal, where she accused senior actor Alok Nath of raping her and runing her career.

Alok Nath, famous as the "sanskaari bapuji" from family dramas, told ABP News that he neither 'denies nor agrees with Vinta Nanda's allegations and that 'only what a woman says will be considered'.

Nanda then wrote when she woke up the next afternoon, she was in pain adding that she hadn't just been raped, she realised that her assaulter had taken her to her own house and brutalised her.

The show went on with the ratings soaring but the management at the channel changed and it asked for a change in the lead actor.

He went on to say that "at one time she used to be such a good friend... today she said such a big thing". As the evening flowed, my drinks were mixed and I began to feel unusual.

She said the "most hard part" and the "main reason" why she took so long to share the truth was because while she was working on the new series, "he asked me to come to his house again and I went to allow him to violate me".

Major fire, explosions at Irving Oil refinery in Saint John, New Brunswick
The refinery was operating under a shutdown, meaning there were more employees than usual working at the time of the accident. Saint John Mayor Don Darling said on Twitter: "This is obviously a live event. when we know more, you'll know more".

She also detailed Nath's alleged misbehavior on the sets of Tara, which was launched in 1993 as one of the first Indian TV shows that focused on the journey of a modern city woman. The "Tara" director also said that she would have probably "given the same advice to someone in her situation had that person reached out as the atmosphere at that time was not conducive to have such a conversation". Vinta in a post on her Facebook account has alleged the lead actor of the soap opera of sexually exploiting her back then. She further added that after nearly 19 years she is feeling fearless and it is he, Alok Nath who should feel scared. This moment never came to me in the '90s.

According to Nanda, Nath harassed the female lead actor.

Not too long afterwards, she said, she found herself on the same set as Nath again when he joined a TV show Nanda was directing.

On the actor's statements, the survivor said that, "He (Alok Nath) did not deny it even in 2003,04 and 05 when I had written about it. When she complained to us, we made a decision to let him go".

The production team had chose to remove him from the show, she adds. I am speaking because he should be ashamed because he has lived so many years believing he got away. My lead actress slapped him. "I continued to write the show", she wrote. "I thought saying "sanskaari" would do the needful", Nanda said. Ms Nanda said, reports ANI.
