From the looks of the first trailer, released Thursday evening, the film doesn't seem shy about borrowing familiar elements from its predecessor.
The first look gives us a glimpse at the fantastic live-action set. Smith followed it up by saying, "Can't wait for y'all to see me BLUE!", alluding to his role as Genie. We'll be sure to keep you updated on all news regarding Aladdin as more information becomes available.
This new rendering of the magic lamp marks a pleasing call-back to the 1992 theatrical poster, which also featured the lamp front-and-centre - here's a reminder if your memory doesn't stretch back 26 years. (Hence, the "diamond in the rough" line in the teaser.) The location ends up being where Aladdin finds the Genie's lamp, something that is set up by the teaser's final moment. The tagline reads, "Choose Wisely".
