Samsung launches A9 smartphone with four cameras for the 'Instagram generation'

But three cameras might not be enough for Samsung, as the company just launched a new phone that has four cameras on the back. It doesn't look like we're getting this pretty pink one we have in these pictures.

The Galaxy A9 is powered by an octa-core chipset, but the nature of this processor is still unknown. "It boasts a 3,800mAh battery, and has a 6.3" Full HD+, Super AMOLED display. The handset was unveiled today by Samsung, and we can tell you that on the rear of the device you'll find an 8MP Ultra Wide Camera, a 10MP Telephoto Camera, a 24MP Primary Camera, and a 5MP Depth Camera. Meanwhile, round the front there's a 24MP selfie camera with its own. It will be made available in select markets in November 2018. "In a world like this, everyone deserves access to the technology that delivers the most value in their eyes". Smartphones are processing more and more cameras in the back of their devices. Powered by artificial intelligence, Scene Optimizer is capable of recognizing 19 different scenes and then adjusting the settings accordingly to get you the ideal shot.

This comes after Samsung recently released a firmware update for its older flagship Galaxy S8 to add exclusive camera features which are available only in the latest Galaxy S9, S9+ and Galaxy Note 9.

Samsung has also included a number of flagship features in its Galaxy A9 device, such as its Infinity Display, Bixby assistant, and support for Samsung Pay.

Samsung Galaxy A9 (2018) price and release date
It's somewhat odd for Samsung to launch a phone with world-first features that's not a flagship, but the A9 is plenty powerful. The Korean company's new phone will also feature mobile payment capabilities and expandable storage of up to 512GB.

All in all, the camera hardware on the A9 (2018) is impressive.

Samsung focuses on mid-range, amid talk it's making a phone, that's not the Galaxy S10, with four rear cameras. Coming to the software, the Galaxy A9 offers Android 8.0 Oreo, and knowing Samsung, the Pie update isn't likely to roll out until 2019.

"Building on our legacy in smartphone camera development, we're introducing next-generation technology across our entire Galaxy portfolio to give more consumers the opportunity to experience cutting edge innovation", he said.
