Two pilots, a special "wellness" menu and more than seven weeks' worth of film and television entertainment accompany the travellers on the 16,700-kilometre (10,400-mile) journey to the Big Apple.

Singapore Airlines is set to launch a new non-stop service between Singapore and NY on Thursday, with a flight time of 18 hours and 45 minutes - and they'll be farewelling squishy economy seats for the plush new service.

But because carrying a massive amount of fuel adds weight, thus requiring even more fuel, the Airbus 350-900 has been designed for a lighter passenger load - with 67 seats in business class and 94 in economy.

The route was later abandoned due to rising fuel costs - an issue the airline has countered this time around with their fancy new fuel-efficient A350-900 ULR plane.

As many as 161 passengers were getting ready to board the longest flight in the world on Thursday.

The airline has said that the four pilots - two captains and two first officers - need to have at least 8 hours of rest.

The airline's senior vice-president for sales and marketing, Mr Campbell Wilson, who was also on the inaugural flight, said: "Tonight's event is one that we have been eagerly anticipating since then (2013, when the flight was axed)".

Singaporean software engineer Joel Kang, 30, who lives in NY, said: "It is my birthday, so this is my present to myself".

Fans think Meghan Markle might be PREGNANT after this royal wedding outfit
Unlike Meghan and Harry, Eugenie and Mr Brooksbank cut their carriage procession short, cutting out parts of the high street. Just months after Meghan Markle tied the knot with Prince Harry , her ex-husband is getting ready to do the same.

The flight which is flying from the city-state to Newark Airport can take up to 18 hours and 45 minutes under normal weather conditions, however, the aircraft was made capable of flying more than 20 hours non-stop.

The cabins in the plane have higher than the normal ceilings, larger windows than the normal and lighting created to reduce jet lag.

"My cousin said 'hey, this is in the press.' I'm going to take pictures and show her", she said. "We are delighted to see launch customer Qatar Airways extend its confidence in the A350-1000", said Guillaume Faury, President Airbus Commercial Aircraft.

The world's longest direct commercial flight is back and taking travelers from Singapore to the NY region.

The airline is not planning to offer any economy bookings on the route.

"It will help us boost our network competitiveness and further grow the Singapore hub".

"Ultra-long haul services comprise an important component of that strategy", an airline spokesman said. It received the first aircraft in September. With SIA's new non-stop services, there will be 72 weekly passenger services between Changi and the United States, noted Changi Airport Group spokesman Ivan Tan.

The airline's revenue contribution from the Americas region is now at 14 percent, down from 20 percent in 2013 due to the loss of the non-stop flights, Corrine Png, CEO of transport research firm Crucial Perspective, said.
