A fight between the pair was teased this past summer with an in-Octagon confrontation.
This was another masterful performance from the two-division champion, who continued to show that he's on another level when it comes to wrestling and that he is undeniably the best heavyweight in the sport today, a notion Cormier expanded upon following the bout.
"This is a guy that went to jail as a youth, and when you go to prison as a kid, especially a young black kid, a lot of people give up on you", Cormier said.
Back in July, Cormier scored a stunning first-round knockout win over Stipe Miocic to claim the heavyweight title, becoming the first man to hold the heavyweight and light heavyweight titles simultaneously.
After the fight, Joe Rogan asked Cormier what he thought about a potential showdown with 41-year-old Brock Lesnar.
Another Kavanaugh accuser admits to fabricating rape story
It claimed that Kavanaugh and another man had raped her repeatedly in the back seat of a auto after offering her a ride home. Kavanaugh was asked about the letter in a September conference call under oath and denied the allegations .
The former UFC Champion will be hoping to replicate that success against Cormier should the two meet in as expected early next year.
Before Cormier called out his likely future opponent, he had plenty of kind words to say for his previous one.
"Everything he did had unbelievable power", he said.
"If Derrick Lewis wins eat for free from 2-4 on Sunday" at Popeyes on 9120 Barker Cypress Rd, Cypress, TX 7743.
"I love his story, I love his Instagram and it was a pleasure to share the octagon with him". Cormier explained why he wasn't so concerned. I don't understand how that works. "So there's no surprises with me", Cormier said. "Stuff like that means something to me, which is a bit unsafe because the UFC knows, if they dangle the carrot, they know they can get me to bite by putting all that historical stuff in front of me".
You never know how one thing can change another in time and there's always the possibility that you might never expect how different things could have been if things would have been different.
We'll likely see if Lesnar falls into that category in a few months.
