Amazon's plans, the Journal reported, would place about 25,000 workers in each city, a move created to give the company a greater ability to attract talented workers. Several state and local governments threw their hats in the ring, offering Amazon millions in tax incentives if they opened their new headquarters in their city.
At the time of writing, the Wall Street Journal has reported that Amazon may be splitting its future HQ2 across two cities, with 25,000 employees in each.
The Washington metropolitan area was long considered a top contender for Amazon's second headquarters.
