The actor took to Twitter to thank People magazine for naming him the sexiest man of 2018, while at the same time urging people to buy the magazine and to vote in the U.S. midterm elections.
He told the magazine after he was crowned: "I was like, 'Come on, no way". I was like, 'Yeah, you are kind of sexy today, ' " the "Thor" star joked. Jimmy Fallon had the honors late Monday evening on The Tonight Show - and we love the mag's choice!

In the cover story, Elba opened up about his past as a lanky kid who got "picked on a little bit". "Grew a mustache, had some muscles, bonkers". Smattered on the front of the new cover of the magazine, Elba is described as a "sweet, smouldering, superstar".

Idris was also a popular choice for the honor a year ago, but it was given to Blake Shelton. Back then, Mel Gibson, who was 29 at the time, received the honor.
According to People magazine, the 46-year-old actor was dumbfounded after discovering the crown of the "Sexiest Man Alive" upon his head. "You might as well do it to your heart's content".
It's maybe not on the level of, oh, the 2016 presidential election, but Blake Shelton being named Sexiest Man Alive in 2017 is one of the great upsets of the 21st century.
