First Muslim women in US Congress: Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib

She was joined shortly after on Tuesday night by Omar, who ran for the Democrats in Minnesota's fifth district. Tlaib ran unopposed, but fended off a late write-in challenge from the woman she defeated in the primaries.
