Another added: "This is a new low even for you".
That's not how the media portrayed the event, of course.
The White House Correspondents' Association said it "strongly objects to the Trump administration's decision to use U.S. Secret Service security credentials as a tool to punish a reporter with whom it has a hard relationship". "Acosta's questions ended and his statements began".
The White House has stood by its decision to revoke the access of CNN reporter Jim Acosta after a fiery standoff with the president, and defended sharing an apparently doctored video on social media. Acosta was trying to ask the president a question when Trump moved on to the next journalist and an intern tried to take away the microphone from Acosta, who continued talking. "I think we deserve that".
Acosta responded by calling Sanders a liar. But then he said, "I don't hold him for that because it wasn't overly, you know, horrible".
It happens just like in the White House's version, but Acosta's hand doesn't seem to linger as long on the woman's arm and the movement appears significantly faster.
The president said he had not decided if Acosta's pass would be reinstated and he suggested there "could be others" who lose their credentials. Furthermore, during his press conferences, the president has a right to tell a reporter that his turn is up and that he is moving on to another person.
"The question is: Did the reporter make contact or not?" A press briefing is not a one-on-one interview, nor is it the place to issue snide putdowns and characterizations of the president's positions.

There are players waiting for their chance, and they have all my confidence as well'. At times we've dug out results, in the Premier League more so this season.
O'Reilly said Acosta interjected an accusatory tone and his own opinions in questioning the president in an attempt to make the president look bad.
And CNN has slammed the White House for its actions. It came from his favorite network, CNN.
In response, CNN said through its Twitter feed that Phillip's question wasn't stupid. Acosta made a decision to ask Trump why he seemingly "demonized" the immigrants traveling to the American border at the moment.
TRUMP says of JIM ACOSTA, "I don't think he's a smart person", smears APRIL RYAN as "a loser" and "nasty". "To be honest. You aren't the best", he said.
It's a dead-giveaway: each man is playing to his audience.
"You should let me run the country", Trump said.
During the news conference, Trump also turned on reporter Yamiche Alcindor of PBS' "NewsHour".
Trump has frequently attacked the media, including during his presidential campaign.
Sanders "provided fraudulent accusations and cited an incident that never happened", the USA cable network said. But the network should tread carefully. Trump has called the move an "invasion", although the group is nowhere near the U.S. border.
