However, it has been revealed that former manager Zinedine Zidane turned down a move back to Real Madrid a little over two weeks ago, with reports emerging from FOX Sports saying the same.

Interim Real Madrid manager Santiago Solari was appointed permanent coach on Monday after overseeing a startling upturn in the European champions' fortunes since he stepped in to replace Julen Lopetegui.

Solari guided Madrid to a fourth straight win since taking charge with a 4-2 victory over Celta Vigo in LaLiga on Sunday.

Solari has led Real to four wins out of four since being installed on a caretaker basis following Lopetegui's abrupt sacking last month.

Real took advantage of league leaders Barcelona's surprise 4-3 home defeat to Real Betis earlier in the day to cut the gap to top spot to four points.

'The important thing is to do what is necessary for the good of the team, everything else doesn't matter, ' Solari told reporters after the match.

Real Madrid are now on a four-game winning run with the likes of Karim Benzema, Vinicius Junior and a few others finding their shooting boots.

Casemiro went off in the first 20 minutes and Gareth Bale and Alvaro Odriozla were also limping at the end after being clattered.

"Celta played very tough", Solari said.

"Casemiro had to come off, Gareth made a huge effort because the kick he received was causing him problems".

"His work is excellent, he has been able to achieve very good results".

He said: "We know how to overcome misfortune in the form of injuries suffered by two teammates, more than ever we have shown that we are a group and that when someone leaves the bench, he also responds and sacrifices himself for the collective".

"The line-up that finished the game is a clear example that we have a competitive squad, as the team has the personality to aspire to everything".

An "easy" run of games has allowed Madrid to regain their confidence in front of goal, with Karim Benzema bagging three goals in his last two matches, having gone on a run of eight games without finding the net under Lopetegui.
