White House chief of staff John Kelly will be leaving his position at the end of the year, President Donald Trump said on Saturday afternoon. In 2017, Politico report cited three USA government officials who said Kelly's cellphone was compromised throughout the first half of that year, with the suspected breach potentially happening even before he began serving as secretary of the Department of Homeland Security in January.
However its important to note the president had nothing but praise for his chief of staff, during a private White House event held Friday night, and that none of the rumors have been confirmed.
Among the other changes, two veterans of Trump's 2016 campaign, White House political director Bill Stepien and Justin Clark, the director of the office of public liaison, are leaving the administration to work on Trump's re-election effort.
He told reporters that Barr, who led the Justice Department under former president George H.W. Bush, was "my first choice since day one" and said he is "a terrific man, a terrific person, a brilliant man".
Kelly, a retired Marine Corps four-star general, was tapped by Trump in August 2017 to try to normalize a White House that had been riven by infighting.

Trump also said that State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert was his pick to replace Nikki Haley as the next USA ambassador to the United Nations.
According to Axios, Kelly will be replaced by Nick Ayers, who now works as chief of staff for Vice President Mike Pence.
Trump said the date of transition is "to be determined". Weeks after taking over for Priebus, his predecessor who was unceremoniously fired over Twitter while he sat on a rainy tarmac, Kelly was faced with Trump's controversial response to the racially charged protests in Charlottesville, Virginia.
But inside the White House, it was viewed largely as an attempt to clamp down on speculation about Kelly's fate during the midterm elections, rather than a true vote of confidence.

Barr is likely to face tough questions at his confirmation hearing about how he will handle the ongoing special counsel investigation into possible coordination between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation to influence the 2016 presidential election.
