Manchester City needs someone to replace the ageing Fernandinho. He added: "Frenkie is guaranteed to stay with Ajax until the summer and I cannot say anything about it".

Likened to Johan Cruyff and Franz Beckenbauer, De Jong is one of the most exciting young players in Europe and has been linked with a move to Barcelona or Manchester City next summer.

Current PSG star Kylian Mbappe had recommended the player and the idea of living in Paris was - unbelievably - more attractive to De Jong than the prospect of living in Manchester. Barcelona would be looking for the next Busquets.

"It would be great for Ajax, a huge compliment", the 48-year-old stated.

De Telegraaf reports that PSG officials Antero Henrique and Maxwell flew into Amsterdam on Thursday for talks with Ajax and came away with a deal "almost certain".

Hundreds of 'yellow vest' protesters are detained in Paris
In the video police officers are seen wearing the uniform of London's Metropolitan Police and St George's flags are visible. Police said they had already detained some 354 people by Saturday morning ahead of the demonstrations.

Ajax midfielder Frenkie de Jong says that he does not yet know whether he will leave the Eredivisie club at the end of the season, amid rumours that he has agreed to sign for Paris Saint-Germain.

De Jong himself has poured scorn on the rumours claiming that a big-money move to PSG was complete, insisting that no deal is yet in place.

Even French sensation Kylian Mbappe was raving about the Dutch wonder-kid after going against him on worldwide duty."He is a player who really impressed me during our two matches with the Netherlands", he told France Football. Matthijs de Ligt has been on the radar of top Premier League sides including Liverpool, and the 19 year old could reject the chance to stay in the Netherlands beyond the summer.

The Frenchman said that his quality passes that break lines make him a very useful player.
