Winter Storm Warnings and Advisories are in effect for many cities across the Tri-State

A winter weather advisory has been issued for the KCII-listening area.

Cold air is now in place and our weather system is still moving across the country and headed our way. Temperatures will slip to the upper 20s and back to the upper 30s on Saturday.

Steadier and more widespread snow arrives Saturday evening and continues into Sunday morning. However, area counties had some snow and freezing rain in the December storm that caused schools to cancel classes. The mountains could pick up a few snow showers. This means, we will see lower snow totals in those areas.

As for snowfall accumulations, a general three to six inches is expected. Plan on a couple inches of snow on the ground by the time you're waking up on Saturday. Our northern counties will get in on the snow first working its way down south.

For Sunday rain will be in the forecast for most of the day with highs near 40°.

There is a slight chance for a few flurries on Monday, otherwise a dry week with milder weather returning on Tuesday.
